Fillings at Ravenscourt Dental Practice

At Ravenscourt Dental Practice we believe prevention is better than cure and pride ourselves in helping our patients to achieve the best possible oral health.

However, even with the best of intentions, it is not always possible to avoid dental treatment and the need for a filling from time to time is common.

Patient having fillings

A filling is an effective way of restoring a tooth that has been broken, damaged by decay or simply worn down and is an invaluable dental tool, allowing people to save damaged teeth.

Patients will often know that they may need a filling as they may experience sensitivity or pain in the offending tooth. The need for treatment can be confirmed by your dentist during a routine examination or with an x-ray.

Will the Treatment hurt?

The treatment itself is now an almost painless procedure that involves removing the decay (if present) and cleaning the area before the filling material is packed into the tooth, hardening within a few minutes.

Most people will need to have a local anaesthetic injection to completely numb the area while the filling is being done. The numbness can take several hours to wear off but most people will not feel any real pain.

With the high quality care, you will receive from a good dentist, having a filling done is a routine procedure.
