Gum disease is a set of conditions which affect the supporting structures around your teeth. It causes swelling of your gums, and it can damages the bone and ligaments that hold your teeth in place, leading to tooth loss.

Overcoming Gum Disease

Gum Disease Treatment Improves Quality of Life
Gum disease is the number 1 cause of tooth loss for adults in the UK. With advances in modern dentistry there are many minimally invasive treatments that a specialist periodontist can use to help you keep your teeth and be able to enjoy eating anything you want to.

If you think you may have gum disease, this video review from one of our patients will show you how it is possible to save teeth.
10 years ago this patient was afraid to show her teeth or smile in public as she was diagnosed with hereditary gum disease. She could not bite into an apple or anything hard as all her front teeth were also wobbly due to gum disease.

Her previous dentist told her the best treatment would be to remove all her teeth and to wear dentures - which she refused. She was later referred to our specialist periodontist, Dr Luigi Nibali who “rescued” her from a future with dentures and being unable to eat properly.

Dr Nibali started her treatment with thorough gum cleaning to remove the infections. He then began work on replacing teeth.

The patient felt that the team here at Ravenscourt Dental Practice, were always very kind and helpful going “above and beyond”. She mentioned how the practice helped her to understand how to look after her oral health and continue to educate her. This has resulted in her coming to the practice with less and less problems each visit.

She was pleased that we offer payment plans to spread the cost so that she could afford this specialist treatment that her previous dentists could not do.
